Financial Peace University

Financial Peace University–Lessons 1+2

Financial Peace University

Overview

Financial Peace University is a financial literacy course with 30 years of in-person class success. It was created by financial guru Dave Ramsey. In recent years the pandemic caused the vision for the course to be molded into a behavior change application, with course material and links to tools that help users track and budget their financial resources.

This project was the early stages of creating a baseline course experience, that we could test and continue to make improvements on as we learned what truly connected with the user to help them change their financial behavior.

Opportunity

How might we make FPU an experience that is easy to retain, take less time, and still use our core content that is already established?

Goals

  1. Retool our legacy content.
Take our already existing workbook and course work and package it into an learning experience that speaks to users’ needs.

  2. Test smaller content bites to increase video completion.
Simplify content down to essential points and cut fluff.

  3. Create a more relational experience in which users have to interact more.
Part of our hypothesis is that if user’s have more chances to interact with our product, they will retain more information naturally.

Competitive Analysis

With many behavior change products on the market to take note from, we were able to take a look at those products and see what they were doing well, what was awkward and what was wrong with those products.

Wireframes

I created 3 wireframes of ideas from patterns I saw during the competitive analysis stage.

Final Design

With an already somewhat established design system within the company, we were able to quickly design and build a 1st iteration interface.
